Wiggly Baby

Not having had a baby around before i may be wrong on this, but by
watching how much Amber kicks her legs around and tries to pull her
head up if she is on her stomach, i am guessing she will be an early
crawler. We actually call her wiggles some times becuase she moves
around so much. I guess mom wasn't kidding when she said she was
being kicked in the ribs ;-)

Baby Feet

For those of you who havn't touched baby feet in a while or who have
never touched them, i have to say you are missing out ;-) Ambers feet
are so tiny, cute, and so so soft. It is probably the part of her
skin that i go for first. Luckily she doesn't seem to be too bothered
by people touching her feet. I don't know if that is becuase it
doesn't tickle her or becuase she is still such a sleepy head. Guess
we will find out in a couple weeks/months.

Trying To Wake The Baby

Often times we have to try to wake Amber up before it is time for her meal. She likes to sleep when she is suppose to be awake and be awake when she is suppose to be asleep ;-) This video shows one of the more successful attempts at waking her. Now we just have to figure out a way to get her to go to sleep ;-)

Mom is multi-tasking

Mom is working on her multi-tasking skills as she jugles Amber and
writing thank you notes and distracting me from my email writings ;-)

Rock-a-bye Baby

You know i never really liked the song "Rock-a-bye Baby" as i always thought it kind of depressing. I just looked up some more information on it on Wikipedia: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Rock-a-bye_Baby and found that the song was originally called "Hushabye Baby" and was probably written by an early pilgrim who observed the native Americans using birch bark cradles suspended from tree branches. Apparently this worked well, but the cradles had a habit of falling and injuring the baby. Well now i know where it came from, but i still don't think i like it any better ;-) I guess i will have to learn some new lullabies though because i keep catching myself singing it.

Amber in the Bath

I am having trouble seeing the video i just posted as i think my
internet filter is blocking it. Anyway for anyone else in that
situation i am posting a couple pictures of Amber taking a bath. She
likes to complain while she is in there, but i know she likes the warm
water ;-)

I took Trevor to the airport this morning, so it is back to just the
three of us around here. Maybe i will go try to get a little more
sleep with Mom & Amber who are being good and napping already this
morning.

Keeping Amber Happy

Sunday Morning

Amber has been with us now for just over a week. We already are
starting to see her grow (mainly in the pudgy direction). The goal is
for her to get back to her birth weight by the 2 week mark, but my
guess is that she has already passed that. Means Amber and mom are
both doing a great job!

We are trying to figure out plans for this week here as well. At this
point i think grandma and grampa are going to go back to state college
for most of this week. Grandma might come back then to help Naomi
when I go back to work starting next week.

On a side note: Amber slept for almost 5 hours straight last night!
Probably won't be a common occurance yet, but we welcomed the extra
sleep.

Had To Post This One!

I keep getting these pictures that i just have to post. This is of
Amber with her "blankie" that grandma and grandpa brought for her.
Couldn't pass this up as i thought it was adorable.

Grandpa & Grandma Smith and Uncles Trevor & Owen Visit

The new Grandma and Grandpa Smith have been love struck by their
little granddaughter! She loves being held by them as well :-) They
have been a great help with holding her and comforting her between
feedings and helping with stuff around the house. Amber has been
enjoying all the attention from Trevor and Owen as well :-)

Uncle Trevor Comes Back

Trevor is feeling a little sore after the accident they were in on
friday, but everything seems to be ok. The doctors are having him
ware the neck brace becuase a lot of his brusing was on his neck where
the seat belt caught him.

Face Time with Mom

Amber insisted that after all the pictures with uncle and dad that she
needed a photo session with mom as well.

Grandma and grandpa Smith will be showing up a little later this
afternoon, and also uncle Trevor will be back as his trip to the outer
banks was cut short by a bad car accident yesterday. We thank God
that no one was seriously hurt as could have easily been the case.

Uncle Trevor Comes to Visit

Uncle Trevor stopped by this morning on his way to the outer banks
with some friends to pay Amber her first visit from family. She was
very elated to see him and slept through most of the visit ;-) Tevor
also helped get a couple good pictures of Amber and Daddy that i am
posting.

Vote for who she looks like

I know it is a little early to tell, but thought it would be fun to
vote for who people think Amber looks the most like ( you can do so on
the right side of the page). I have included several pictures from
our wedding to help you decide. On the top is Grandpa Larsen &
Grandma Maureen (Larsen), in the middle is Grandma & Grandpa Smith,
and Naomi and I are on the bottom.

Ambers first doctors appointment

Still testing out some of the blog features here, but wanted to give
you all an update on Ambers first doctors appointment. Everything is
looking good, she has stoped loosing weight and is gaining again (what
happens to all natural fed babies), all the vitals and everything
check out as well :-)

We have also found that she likes to hang out in the swing a lot :-)
Maybe this will help mom and dad get some more sleep between feedings
and changings.

Amber Ariving Home From The Hospital

This is a picture of amber ariving home from the hospital on monday
the 21st. I never quite realized how heavy a little baby could be
when you put her in one of these. I am growing more and more
impressed with all the moms i know and how they do it ;-)

Welcome to the Smith Family Blog. We are setting this up to share info and pictures about our family with you. Biggest news right now of course is the birth of our first child: Amber Bethany Smith on 7/19/08 @ 2:37pm. She weighed in at 8 lb 5 ounces and was 21 1/2 inches long.
