Our "Faces of History" day at co-op went well. These are the 6 wonderful students I'm privileged to teach (English grammar and composition to) this year. From left to right we had the following: Julius Caesar, Greek Goddess Athena, Queen Victoria, Cleopatra VII, Queen Hatshepsut, and Alexander the Great.
The younger kids listened attentively to the big kids read all their essays, and then they enjoyed juice boxes with one of the character's picture on it - simple but fun!
As the weather begins to warm up, Brent likes to make himself "ice cups" as a way to cool down. He puts a plastic cup of water in the freezer and waits until the outer shell is frozen. Then he slides the ice out and uses it like a cup to drink the cool water from inside. :)
Brent really enjoy English, especially diagramming. He is looking forward to taking Honors English at school next year. [Yes, he and Amber will be going to a brick-and-mortar school next year. More on that in a coming post].
Brent and Clara are preparing for "Faces of History" at our co-op. They have worked for 4 weeks researching and writing formal essays about a famous person from ancient history. When they read their essay at co-op, they will do so in costume. Brent will be Julius Caesar. Clara will be Queen Victoria. (Of course Victoria is not quite "ancient" history, but we do study from ancient up to the 1800s in our history this cycle/year). They are pretty excited about their costumes - thanks, Amazon! - and that the writing process is over! ;-)
