Fun with Friends

We are becoming friends with another homeschool family from church. They have 5 kiddos total. All our kids get along very well and are similar ages. We often go out for burritos after church on Sundays. Also, this family has been learning sign language on their own for several years; and now I'm teaching a little class to their kids (and mine). ;-) It's fun! They are wonderful, eager students!

The Dads and sons enjoy playing card games together too. Sometimes they all meet at a coffee shop to play together.

On our way across town one afternoon, we stopped by to see Dad's office.
We are thankful for his good job!

January Texas Weather

Friday afternoon we had 70 degrees. That evening huge thunderstorms rolled in along with a tornado watch. The temps dropped 40 degrees through the night and the next morning we enjoyed a dusting of snow!

Amber and Lucas drove 30 min further north to do their volunteering at a horse ranch that a.m., and there was a good 2 inches of snow there. So fun! Reminded us of living in the North.
But then 4 days later it's back in the 70s and we are wearing shorts!

Christmas Break Co-op Outings

Some of the moms in our homeschool co-op come up with and organize wonderful outings for us. In December we went ice skating inside a shopping mall in Dallas - the Christmas tree is 3-4 stories tall and it's fun to skate around.

In early January we got to tour an Amazon processing center. Very interesting. On average, once you click "buy" on Amazon's website, your item is picked, packaged, and shipped out the door within 24 minutes! 

New Year, New Yard Activity

Tetherball! An oldie but a goodie! I had one in my yard growing up in WI, and so I wanted to pass along the tradition to my kids. Lucas did the hard work of digging the holes and cementing the poles into place for all of us.Then...let the fun begin! And the ball (shouldn't) go over the fence into the neighbor's yard.
