Kahala Resort

This past weekend we went to Kahala resort to see the beach and Dolphins there. It was quite a swanky place. We heard that George Clooney had just been there the prior weekend :-) Amber thought the Dolphins were something else! Here is the first set of pictures from the resort.

7 Month Photo Shoot - II

Here are a few more pictures. In the "butt shot" you can see the remains of Brent's "Hand, Food, and Mouth Disease" rash (little bumps) from last week. We're so grateful he is better now. The big brown spot is his cute birth mark that Amber always calls his "boo-boo." :-)

Brent's 7 Month Photo Shoot

Amidst all the moving transition, we missed Brent's 6 month marker, so we did a "7 mo. photo shoot" instead. Lucas really captured some great shots of our handsome son! How did we get such blue-eyed babies?!...God's creation is amazing. We are so blessed!

Of course Brent wanted a turn in the water as well :-)

Amber and Naomi In the Lagoon

We went for a drive to Ko Olina Beach Resort which is on the South West side of the island. There are several very nice and calm lagoons that are associated with the resorts and have public access. The public parking is very limited so we had to wait 20 mins for a spot, but it does help to limit the number of people at the beach. Amber really enjoyed the water despite having gotten sun screen in her eyes.

Double Rainbow

It is no coincidence that the Hawaii license plate is a rainbow. We see a lot of them here and they stick around for a long time because of the static weather patterns created by the mountains.

Home at the Waterfront - Iroquois Point, HI

We just found out this afternoon that we are able to rent a 4 bedroom house in Iroquois Point, HI! This is a community of former military housing, but it has so many nice amenities, no the least of which is private beach access! The house itself is rather "spartan," but that's o.k. There are parks/playgrounds, lagoons, beachfront, walking paths, tennis, volleyball and basketball courts, a cafe, a fitness center,... It will be a great place to have young kids and enjoy the Hawaiian outdoors. Oh, and Lucas will be able to take the boat shuttle (10min.) across the bay to work at Pearl Harbor - how cool! Thanks to everyone for praying! Final housing/moving details should be worked out the early part of next week.

Amber Jumping

Up For A Swim Anyone?

Next we stopped by Sandy Beach Park. If you feel comfortable braving the water after the warnings then it looks like a lot of fun :-) Apparently there were a good number of people who know how to take good advantage of the "Dangerous Shore Break" and "High Surf". Didn't really see anyone taking good advantage of the "Sharp Coral" though ;-)

Surf

Next stop on our list was the south east tip of the island. The east side of Oahu is referred to as the Windward side and gets a lot rougher surf then the south side which is mostly protected from the prevailing winds.

First Taste of Beach

We did a drive around the south eastern part of the island to help us get our bearing and to take a look at some of the areas we might be living in. Here are some pictures of the first good spot we found to stick our feet in the water. It was mostly a boat access point (instead of a beach), but we still got our first taste :-)

Getting Ready To Travel

So going back in time a bit here we are doing final packing before our flight.

Trying out our airport stroller system - 2 umbrella strollers with removable attachment pieces.
