Jacob is another one of our neighbors. He is 9yrs old. When I am outside with the kids in the afternoons, he will often come over with some of his toys to show our kids. He is very nice with Amber and Brent and patient as he explains how to use big kid toys like this Nerf Gun. Brent loves it! Brent didn't want to share the nerf gun for one second!
Jacob is already an uncle. His nephew is Brent's age.
It was a very WARM afternoon, so even Mommy was trying to cool off in the pool. :-)
At the park Amber decided to pick pink plumerias for Grandma. "Ga'ma like these," she said. :-)

Lucas and a bunch of his military colleagues hiked up Diamond Head for a reenlistment ceremony. I guess the person reenlisting can chose where to have the ceremony performed, and so this pregnant Navy woman chose to climb the mountain. Her husband (also Navy) swore her in for another 4 years. Lucas photo-documented the event. :-)
This past weekend we watched a little boy (2,1/2 yrs old) from church whose Mom was in labor at Tripler Hospital. Tommy was SO good for us, and his little brother Logan arrived in the world safe and sound. :-)
[I think we're going to need a bigger pool soon! Even our neighbors comment on how tiny the pool is for 2, much less 3 on occasion, kids!] :-D
For some reason Brent has not wanted to get in our little baby pool this summer. He has been FINE swimming at the beach, but not in the pool. I (Naomi) tried numerous ways of coaxing him to get in and cool off in our little pool...to no avail. However, DADDY was able to finally get Brent in the pool and to love splashing around! Guess Brent just preferred the manly instruction. :-)
Amber has tried several times to get Brent to wear princess shoes. He has kept them on for about a minute and then... He prefers to play with something a little more boyish, like goggles! lol.
Tiffany treated me to a dolphin watch and snorkel day cruise. It was absolutely incredible to see literally HUNDREDS of dolphins swimming right near and under our boat! The water and air and scenery were amazing, but... the rocking of the boat on the waves was not so good for me. My tendency toward motion sickness got the better of me and we had to abort plans for the afternoon snorkel portion. [Guess the Bonine meds, ginger chews, and ginger pills I took didn't cut it. Bummer]. Tiffany was such a great sport about it all though! We ended up going to a lagoon down the road and relaxing and swimming for much of the rest of the afternoon.
Here I am "collapsed" on the roof of our car as I try not to lose the lunch I didn't even eat.
By dinner time I was feeling SO much better and even up for trying sushi! My tuna and veggie rolls were pretty tasty. All in all, a really good and memorable day!
During the summer months Waimea Bay Beach is BEAUTIFUL for swimming and canoeing and...yes, jumping off that large rock! I think the
climb up the slippery rock would do me in more than the jump itself. Maybe next time...? ;-)
So my best friend from DC Tiffany was here visiting this past week. We had a GREAT time together! Lucas watched the kids for 3 of the days she was here so that we could enjoy some "girl time." Boy did we hit the ground running! I picked her up from the airport and we went straight to Pearl Harbor, and then hiked Diamond Head, and even put our feet in the ocean all in that first afternoon! :-)
